Metropolis,
Alive |
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 18, 2011 |
New York City artist, Cecil William Lee, is transforming
our world through new eyes with his debut book,
Metropolis Alive! Lee uses photography and what he
declares Computer Evolved Art (CEA), to re-expose us to
the life that exists through many outlets in our world.
Mannequins, dancers, people and the mysterious city of
New York are all at his disposal. Considering himself a
“voyeur with a camera”, Lee exposes often unnoticed
occurrences using unusual angles, dynamic saturation of
colors and images representing time in slow motion.
In addition to the photographic
images, Metropolis, Alive bears a collection of
non-metropolis related CEA. The work in this section
spans the length of time. Lee uses CEA as a tool to
abandon the idea of “traditional” art and approach the
subject with a refreshing curiosity and naïveté. Fresh
and exciting, CEA is an emerging art form challenging
and expanding our ready and learned definition of art.
Metropolis, Alive is a
cohabitation of art and philosophy based on the theory
that Metropolis is more than the familiar fictional
city. Instead as Lee states, “…it is real and visible
through the curvature of our individual perceptions.”
Readers and explorers of Metropolis will embark on a
journey of re-discovery and end up learning that
Metropolis is Alive!
